Racism is alive and well

I recently wrote a letter defending the policeman who killed the young black man Michael Brown. I also believe that the black community in the US has a tendency to assume that every white man accused of murdering or raping a black person is automatically

That said, I believe the policeman in New York who killed Eric Garner is a murderer, regardless of what the grand jury said.
Many years ago I was riding the subway in New York when a policeman approached a Hispanic man who was sitting across from me and minding his own business. Yet the racist cop threw him off the train at the next stop.
Although I'm white, I too was once a victim of police brutality in New York. Are these isolated incidents? How prevalent is police brutality in America? I honestly don't know.
Where there is smoke there is fire. And when the police respond to the recent killing of two New York police officers by blaming all critics of the police department, then it’s obvious that they are not interested in doing anything to improve relations with the black community so these terrible crimes don’t happen again.
