All government leaders during that time appear to have been corrupt, divisive and violence-driven.
Therefore, when the May 22 coup took place, peace-loving Thais saw it as a godsend. The killings of innocent people and children that happened almost daily on the streets of Bangkok came to a halt. Caches of war weapons were found and seized by the military-installed government.
Hence, observers and critics of Thailand should take note: Peace-loving Thais are enjoying this post-coup period immensely and are still extremely jittery about where democracy after the next election will take us.
