The best friends offer advice in a nice way

I agree that sometimes good friends are the only ones who will remind us that what we are doing needs to be done the other way around.
However, sometimes friends need to be warned to always give advice with a friendly pat on the back – not with a hard kick in the shin.
Good diplomatic relations must be upheld by every party concerned, and by artful diplomacy, not by kicking or bossing around your partner.
The two styles are worlds apart in terms of potency and effectiveness.
