Constitution Drafting Committee chairman Borworn-sak Uwanno hopes that this constitution will be the last and never be abrogated by anyone.
This is typical of most legal minds who always believe that legal words are supreme and govern those leaders.
Your letter-writer Charles Stampfer’s point yesterday about Thais not having “integrity” is right on the spot in terms of our leaders’ nature because, when they fail, they never resign. Someone has to push them out. That someone is always the Army. Those leaders do not understand the words “fair play”.
Can the CDC write words that force those future leaders to have integrity? You will always need demonstrations to unseat them. To do so, one has to overturn the constitution of the day.
Also, Borwornsak expressed the necessity of holding a referendum on his coming charter and yet preferred to defer that decision to the junta. To prove their worth, may I ask why can’t he put in the draft that a referendum is a must if the CDC’s majority agrees?
