First, the claim “[I] did my job serving all Thais with utmost honesty and integrity”.
That seems to be far from the truth. It appears all she did during her premiership was listen and do as other people dictated to her, especially her brother Thaksin who kept claiming that Miss Yingluck was nothing more than his “clone” in the Thai government.
Second, it was misleading for Yingluck to say that the rice-pledging scheme “helped promote fairness ... and enhanced the living standards of rice farmers”.
If that was the case, why did 16 farmers commit suicide when Yingluck’s government failed to honour its commitment to pay them their money on time? And why did household debt among the rural poor keep escalating instead of diminishing?
Third, Yingluck failed to mention the truth – that the Supreme Court’s Criminal Division’s indictment of her was for her failure to prevent and stop the widespread and chronic corruption [in the scheme].
The truth of the matter is Yingluck’s action and inaction in the rice-pledging scheme has caused the country to lose more than B600 billion; and its standing as the world’s number one rice exporter was severely affected.
In fact, the indictment was based on Yingluck’s alleged lack of honesty and integrity.
