Small enough to fit anywhere

The CPU of the new Dell OptiPlex isn't even as tall as a book

ONE OF A new generation of desktop computers with an ultra-compact profile, the Dell OptiPlex 3020 Micro is so unobtrusive that it can be placed alongside a book on your desk and you won’t even notice it’s there.
Fitting the Dell slogan of “Designed for perfect placement”, the computer is smaller in height terms than most books so anyone entering your workspace will notice only the monitor, keyboard and mouse.
You can even hide the OptiPlex 3020 Micro behind the monitor with the aid of an additional accessory. Dell provides five optional mounting solutions allowing you to keep the desktop computer off the desk, off the floor and out of the way.
The OptiPlex 3020 Micro is only 3.6 centimetres thick. It has a footprint of just 18.2 x 3.6 x 17.6 centimetres and weighs a mere 1.28 kilogrammes.
The computer has a DisplayPort so you can use the adapter to connect it to a LCD TV using an HDMI cable. Then you can sit back and work using the wireless keyboard and mouse in your hotel room, for example.
The OptiPlex 3020 Micro has two USB 3.0 ports – one at the front and another at the rear and four USB 2.0 ports including one at the front. It also has a LAN port at the back for connecting with a network cable to your home router. Or you can buy a wireless LAN module to mount on its motherboard.
It has one stereo jack and a microphone port at the front.
Apart from the DisplayPort 1.2, the OptiPlex 3020 Micro also has a VGA port. The two display ports can be used simultaneously, so it can be connected to two monitors at the same time.
It has a built-in storage, which can be expanded with an external hard drive using the superfast USB3.0 connection.
The motherboard has two memory slots, supporting up to 8 gigabytes of memory of 1600MHz DDR3 type, which is fast.
The power of the computer depends on the choice of processors.
The test unit came with Intel Core i3-4150T dual core processor running at 3 GHZ and 4 gigabytes of DRR3 RAM or working memory |and 500 GB of storage. It runs on Windows 7 Professional 64 bit |operating system.
I was pleased with its found |performance. It started up fast and applications, like Microsoft Word ran fine.
The OptiPlex 3020 Micro starts at Bt13,000, depending on its configuration. The price includes a wired mouse and a wired keyboard.
