PM should ponder LKY

Re: 'Govt wins lukewarm praise', News, April 18

What a bunch of mixed bags from businessmen, politicians and academics!
For self-survival, businessmen would have to praise any government first and end up with a soft “but”. Politicians’ words reflect missing the political game. Academics and researchers forever cite the obvious (thinking others not bright enough to know) to show that they are more educated. Oddly, General Prayut’s remark on the pain in the neck from those overseas reveals and indicates a long exile for them. A bonus was the report on the first victim of Article 44 – the education ministry. Thank you for the concise and yet comprehensive report!
With due respect, I strongly recommend Khun Prayut to spend time – just one evening – watching clips of Lee Kuan Yew on YouTube on why LKY was so Machiavellian, effective, hard-working, unbending and incorruptible. The reactions to LKY’s death serve as a reminder that it is more relevant to the odd way that people in Singapore fear him rather than to love him. LKY would not have expected the outpouring of thanks from one-fifth of his citizens after his draconian three decade rule.
General Prayut is in a very good position to amend our structural wrongs.
The prime minister’s pay in Singapore is, at Bt30 million, the highest in the world. That is cheap if Thailand can become transparent, efficient, honest and fair to all.
