Now that we have "people-trafficking" stories in the news every day, maybe it is time to learn what we are talking about.
How many readers can distinguish between trafficking and smuggling? Is America’s motivation behind new “trafficking” laws purely humanitarian – or more complicated? People outnumber jobs. Desperation is growing. The Rohingya are the tip of an iceberg.
As a well-read and knowledgeable observer, I think about these things every time I see a trafficking story. You should too.
