Tulsathit Taptim hit the nail on the head when he said Thaksin Shinawatra is desperate to blame anyone but himself for the woes that have befallen Thailand in the past few years.
According to my estimate, at least half the population wants peace and reconciliation. However, if Thaksin continues to insist on obstructing that objective, no one – not even the former leader himself – will emerge the winner. Instead, the entire country will suffer.
Thaksin should realise that he shares the onus in efforts towards reconciliation. Among the many duties of every citizen are to respect and conform to the country’s traditions and laws. No one is so big that they can trample on these national customs and rules.
