By the girls, for the girls

THE ALL-FEMALE, girl-power concert known rather quaintly as “What Women Worth” returns next month for its sixth edition and will be raising funds so that women in need can enjoy a better life.

Taking place at the Bangkok Convention Centre Hall (BCC Hall) of Central Lat Phrao on July 18, the concert is dedicated to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit on the occasion of her 83rd birthday anniversary, which falls on August 12.

“The first concert in 2009 was a great success and after expenses, we were able to donate Bt900,000 to the Ban Home Hug led by Suthasinee Noiin,” said Pasinee Prechathanapol, vice president for corporate communications of Thai Life Insurance, during the recent press conference at Dazzle Zone of CentralWorld.

“This year, Thailand’s leading female singers will again be on the stage, They won’t only be entertaining the audience but also helping women have a better life through the ‘One for Lives’ Foundation, which supports care for paediatric cancer, women’s cancers and elderly patients.”

Other sponsors of the concert include Supee Pongpanich, director of Siam Commercial Bank's advertising & promotion, Sudrak Janyawong, manager of Thai Airways International’s marketing promotion division, Panichanart Yampika, the editor-in-chief of Priew magazine and Hattaya Wongkrachang, the managing director of Independent Communication Network.

Among the stars taking part in this year’s concert are Penpak “Tai” Sirikul, Thanaporn “Parn” Waekprayoon, Lalana “Jeab” Kongtoranin, Nipaporn “Zani” Thititanakarn, Siriporn “Tak” Yooyod, Patcharasri “Kalamare” Benjamas, and Ekkachai “DJ Ekkie” Euasangkomsert. They’ll be accompanied by an all-women mini orchestra.

Celebrities at the press conference included Thawin “Mark” Seawtong, the owner and founder of Mark Thawin Ultimate Solution, Nakwan Rayananonda, and Vitchuda Leenutaphong.

Proceeds after expenses will go to the Foundation as well as Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital to cover pap smears for underprivileged women between the ages of 30 and 60.
