It starts from basic education within the family that children should not throw any garbage on the street, river, sea, canal, etc. It is so sad that the environment of this beautiful country is spoiled and scenes of garbage can be seen everywhere.
Recently I saw a private bus full of teenagers enjoying their lunch in foam boxes, and all of them just threw it on the street after they finished. This is only one sample seen almost every day, not to mention the behaviour of all the food stall operators on Sukhumvit, Silom and other streets of Bangkok, including their customers.
If basic education doesn’t help stop this, drastic punishment should be applied. Offenders should be made to clear litter in the drains for a week. In my view, a very heavy fine would be the most effective.
People with power should think of prevention and how to clear the mess all around us. This is from a Thai resident who feels the environment issue has been neglected for decades in this beautiful Land of Smiles.
