Prayut should say no to GMO

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha must be careful not to let his government be used by certain companies in their bid to make Thailand a hub for their GMO-tainted agricultural exports to the world.

Thai farmers and consumers alike could easily become vulnerable to exploitation by these companies. And there is no return route if the government allows these companies to have their way.
Certain foreign companies have been trying for the past two decades to develop Thailand as a hub for marketing their GMO seeds and products in this part of the world.
Also, the owner of one Thai company involved in the export of seeds and agricultural produce is rumoured to enjoy close connections with certain Thai military leaders.
If such companies are successful in their effort, Thailand will be faced with a calamitous situation.
PM Prayut must not let his legacy be tainted by this issue, which could very likely become a scandal.
