Vint Chavala writes that Thailand has arrested more people-traffickers than Malaysia and Vietnam combined. But isn’t that because Thailand has more traffickers than those countries? What’s important is not the number of traffickers arrested, but the percentage.
Vint then writes that all “literate” Thais believe Thaksin Shinawatra should stay out of politics. What evidence does he have that the millions who voted for Thaksin are all illiterate?
While Vint likes to lecture me about showing respect to his countrymen, he seemingly has no respect for the millions of Thais he denigrates because they disagree with him and haven’t enjoyed the same educational opportunities that he’s had. I have far more sympathy for the average Thai than these “intellectual” elitist snobs.
