Successors should emulate police chief

I regard General Somyot highly over his lashing of the Immigration officials. Corruption is not only greedy, but it also disregards our national security and places our wellbeing at risk.

The police chief should also be praised for staying cool under great public pressure in the push to strip Thaksin Shinawatra of his police rank. Somyot knew full well he had no authority to do so. Similarly, he was cool enough not to gratify the public’s desire to have fingers pointed quickly at anyone suspected in the bombing of the Erawan Shrine. Though he is due to retire soon, his leadership qualities should serve as a guide to his successors.
Fair play
