THIS FRIDAY is the National Day of the People’s Republic of China and Jim Thompson is celebrating the occasion with the launch of a new collection of printed outfits and accessories dubbed Enter the Dragons.
Adapted from a adapted popular home fabric in the Dynasty collection by British designer Richard Smith, the prints are inspired by the magnificent dragon image on the robe of the great Chinese emperor as well as the Chinese decorative art on a hand-knotted silk carpet from the Ningxia region.
The special edition collection features a painting of the dragon in a multicoloured palette printed on premium linen combined with trimmings of imported sheepskin.
There are four themes, each one of them perfect for mixing and matching. The Black and White line has a trendy tote bag with horizontal stripes and an Elizabeth Kaftan silk dress that pairs the black-and-white stripes with a multicoloured-flower motif.
The Ikat edition includes a pure cotton Boho dress and an oversize Pareo shawl with traditional ikat motifs that can also be worn as a halterneck dress.
The Safari and Ethnic series boast a zebra Jayanti dress, classy white linen Tahiti pants and a short dress with an elephant pattern. The Indigo collection brings you back to earth with a Boracay tote bag with illusory indigo-and-white stripes and a Meryl Boat top that plays with sheerness of fabric by creating an interplay of different colours.
Jim Thompson has a retail shop at Jim Thompson House as well as branches at Isetan, Siam Paragon, CentralWorld and Emporium.
