Expats not appreciative of what they have here

Some foreign retirees in Thailand habitually make a loud noise about the lack of convenience in life here. Judging from the number of complaints expressed in this column, there must be a lot of them here.

Many likely worked hard and helped their own countries become developed and industrialised, only to discover at retirement that the cost of living was too high for them to stay and enjoy the fruits of their labour. So retirees from the US, Europe and Japan headed to Thailand, where they can live more cheaply. Their move was not motivated by an appreciation of what or how much we have to offer them.
These retirees are simply insatiable. Some are extremely opinionated and cause trouble for our society. I wish they would leave us alone to deal with our own problems.
