True capitalism has fallen victim to fantasy economics

JC Wilcox accuses me of being bitterly critical of democracy and capitalism while offering no alternatives. Let me inform him of a few things. I am a retired US military officer who served during the Cold War because I value democracy over communism.
I am a long-time admirer of US economist Milton Friedman because I believe in true capitalism – not in the current “debt is good”, quasi-capitalist, mostly-fantasy economics.
I actually read letters in The Nation before I respond to them so that I do not misrepresent their content when I write.
