‘Me culture’ fuelled by ignorance about economy

The government needs to better explain the economy at both the national and international levels.

This is how poorer, less-educated Thais typically see things: “When tourists come, things are okay. When tourists don’t come, things are not okay.”
That is the extent of the general understanding, and also probably the extent in many other countries like Thailand.
People are hungry for knowledge, and Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha can explain things in basic terms, that events in China and the European Union, for example, affect many other economies.
He could point out that household debt combines with national debt to make a country weaker, and that there is no “free money” from government, because no government has an endless supply of funds.
These explanations might even enlighten some less-poor, more-educated people.
