Discriminatory entry fees still upsetting farang

Discriminatory entry fees still upsetting farang

Once again recently, I experienced the discrimination that is meted out here to farang, whether tourists or long-term residents.

I went to a popular Chinatown venue, where a sign clearly states an entry price for “foreigners” of Bt100, whereas Thais pay zilch!
I inquired if a 5-year driver’s licence is sufficient ID for a discount, but the shrug of the shoulders and look elsewhere was a sufficient negative answer.
I am not aware of other countries applying such discriminatory practice towards foreign visitors.
I realise people will say ‘If don’t like it, don’t live or stay here … you’re a guest and have limited rights.’ I understand these thoughts and although a minor amount of money is involved, it’s about the principle of equality in today’s society and if the Prayut government is striving to restore happiness to the country, shouldn’t that apply to all Thais, residents & visitors alike?
