Japan won’t have to put up with US troops much longer

Re: “Why are US Marines stationed in Okinawa?”, Letters, April 25.

Not that this subject should be in a Thai newspaper, but as long as it is, I will comment on it. Yoshio Shimoji is absolutely right. Actually, the US Marines shouldn’t be anywhere in the western Pacific. They should be back in Kaneohe, Hawaii, where they belong. And Japan should be spending some of the trillions it has taken out of America in auto sales over the last 50-odd years to defend itself.
Unfortunately there are far too many people in the American military and government who believe that the US should have its nose in everyone’s business. That is why America is almost $30 trillion in debt.
The most pathetic thing of all, though, is that the women and minorities of America will soon elect a woman to office who will perpetuate this moronic policy.
So you see, Yoshio, you really don’t have much of a problem when compared to the problems of the people camped out on your island. Just be patient until America finally bankrupts itself through looking out for people who are not very grateful. Then it will have to send the Marines home.
