Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha should look into how and why official passports were issued without careful consideration during the Yingluck Shinawatra government.
Thai-language newspapers have reported the case of a woman accused of lodging false complaints against her former servants over the theft of belongings worth millions of baht.
The servants, who claim she intimidated them, include a 19-year-old student who, along with her parents, is accused of stealing Bt10 million worth of items.
Others have been accused of the same thing on other occasions and some are in jail as a result of this woman’s accusation.
These servants claim the woman urged them to work in Hong Kong for phu yai (political big shots) there, and when they refused she charged them with stealing her property.
It was found later that this woman, as well as having normal Thai passport, also holds a passport normally issued only to government officials to facilitate their official trips abroad.
The people have the right to question whether the previous government giving out passports in a random manner works against the country’s security and sovereignty.
