Ying Kai allegations underline need for police reform

Re: Victims name officials they suspect helped ‘Ying Kai’, National, July 11.

The news about senior civil servants, soldiers and police being suspected of helping high-society woman ‘Ying Kai’ in her alleged human trafficking, filing false complaints and committing lese majeste is worrying.
Corruption and misbehaviour that are deep-rooted in the police force are the main reason why there are louder and more derisive public calls for police reform to be carried out.
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha should be reminded that police reform is one of the most important things to be accomplished by his government.
