The Nation reserves the right to edit letters for clarity, content and length, but the way the Turkish Embassy’s letter was published far exceeded these criteria.
Important phrases and a whole sentence were left out, beginning with the headline, from which “…support coup plotters and terrorists” is omitted.
The Embassy does not find appropriate the omission of the following: “…against our nation and the national will…”, “…democratically elected…”, “…be it supporters of the ruling party or opposition…” and “They stood by the democratically elected president and the government”.
Such deletions do not fit journalism ethics and are considered unfortunate.
