THE FOURTH year of the “Power of Human Energy: A Journey Inspired by the King” project wrapped recently with a series of exhibitions under the general title “Sueb Sarn Phra Raja Panithan Tam Roy Phor Khong Paendin” (“Follow the Royal Wish, Follow in the Steps of the Father of the Nation”).
Hosted by Siam Paragon, the event, in commemoration of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s benevolence, consisted of three exhibitions that honoured the King and presented the continuous success of the project throughout its four years. Part of the exhibition was designed as a market showing and selling organic agricultural produce, and pesticide residue-free produce, cultivated by the project’s farmers. The vegetables proved particularly popular with foreign residents.
Two of the projects’ four celebrities – Jirayu “Kao” La-Ongmanee and Pisanu “Boy” Nimsakul – were on hand to take members of the public around the booths to chat with some of the farmers about their successes using the late Monarch’s sufficiency economy philosophy.
Actresses Kemmanij “Pancake” Jamikorn and Siwat “Cee” Chotichaicharin also mingled with visitors
“We are very proud to be a part of pushing forward this project throughout four years, which aims to both solve the water problems in this country and help develop the life of Thailand’s agriculturists in line with His Majesty the late King’s wishes.
“Moreover, we have built a network and a learning centre for the ‘Pa Sak Model’ at Special Warfare Command (Huay Krathak) in Lop Buri and this offers a prime example of the late King’s sufficiency economy philosophy,” said Pairoj Kaweeyanun, president of Chevron Thailand’s Exploration and Production.
“The project has brought together people from the private and public sectors in applying the sufficiency economy philosophy to solve problems with water management in several social landscapes. We have built learning centres centred on the management of soil, water and forest using His Majesty the late King’s philosophy and local wisdom,” added Dr Wiwat Salyakamthorn, president of the Agri-Nature Foundation and the Institute of Sufficiency Economy.
Major General Thanasak Kengthanomma, a special adviser of the Royal Thai Army, spoke of his pride in the 600-rai parcel of land in Huay Krathak, owned by Special Warfare Command (Erawan Military Camp) in Lop Buri, which is being used for the Pa Sak model
“After building a learning centre for the Pa Sak model, Special Warfare Command assigned 21 soldiers to be on duty at the centre and also set up a committee of all parties working in this Pa Sak model area,” he said.
The event wrapped with Pairoj reading a poem and Kao Jirayu, Boy Pisanu, Pancake and Cee Siwat leading visitors in signing the royal anthem, “San Sern Phra Baramee”, then standing quietly for an 89-second moment of silence.
