Barry Kenyon in his wisdom suggests I should look before I leap. That’s an Aunt Mabel cliche that bears no relevance to the issue. He says one does not have to deposit money in Thailand, but “stick Bt800,000 in the bank”. He obviously has a problem with normal English. What he means is deposit money in the bank.
If he had to borrow this small sum from a friend, then perhaps he should not be here. The whole point about Thai immigration rules is to ensure that immigrants do not create a dependency on the state.
If one has investments in this country, tax is refundable. That is the reason for the need for proof of payment of UK tax.
If one is sufficiently well funded, healthcare is not a problem. On reaching the grand old age of 70 one becomes self-insured. Life is simply about having vision and preparing for the future by being financially independent.
As with Thai immigration, President Trump does not want the US flooded with immigrants who become dependent on the American taxpayer. Under the Obama administration, for political reasons, there was absolutely no check on illegal immigration. In fact he encouraged it by the planeload. He was simply importing votes, exactly as Tony Blair did in Britain. Had Thailand’s rules been applied in the US, the UK and the whole of Europe, civilisation would not now be seriously under threat.
Mr Kenyon should learn a little before he writes.
