Wilcox resorts to peevish pedantry and adopts the role of injured complainant that does him a disservice, and which can easily be avoided should he abandon his Pooterish posturing. The point about making questionable statements here, as Wilcox does on innumerable occasions in the rush to see his name in print, is that someone is always likely to pick one up on one’s real or debatable errors of judgement. So, one therefore either defends one’s position in a mature and intelligent manner, or one should “man up”, and take it on the chin. QED.
