For the record I never called Trump a “psycho”, a heading determined by the editor. The issues, Mr Wilcox, are not that Donald Trump hates Hillary Clinton or is a nationalist and an opponent of world government. I don’t like them either.
The problem is that the US president’s behaviour has all the hallmarks of sociopathy or malignant narcissism. Witness his total disregard for laws and morals, superficial charm, egocentricity, overreaction to criticism, etc. Many senior Republicans in the US are totally aware of what Trump is and isn’t. For the moment, it suits them to shrug off the embarrassment while they pursue their anti-immigrant policies and dismantle Obamacare and environmental protections.
Once Trump’s mouth causes an international catastrophe, or the Democrats manage to claw back some Senate seats in the mid-term elections, Trump will be dropped like the proverbial hot brick.
