A hated Trump is preferable to a coddled Obama

The constant deluge of articles in The Nation on President Trump and the United States, from the Washington Post and Agence France-Presse, do a disservice to your readership. These articles are treated as news when in fact they are opinion pieces that belong on the editorial page.

Foreign readers in particular are led to believe that the US has turned into a xenophobic, misogynistic, racist, immigrant-hating behemoth under Donald Trump. CNN and the aforementioned news agencies (and I use the term “news” reluctantly) have a hatred for the president that borders on the absurd and colours their reportage.
For those of us who were sick and tired of a runaway bureaucracy that beset us with regulations, taxes, borders open to illegal immigrants and the imposition of their anti-constitutional views, President Trump is a breath of fresh air. Far from being the crazy man these folks are portraying him as, he is just reverting to the vision of our founding fathers.
Liberals who now call themselves progressives are totally unhinged over his victory. Some of your readers have characterised Trump as unqualified for the office of president due to his lack of government experience, but look at Obama – a worthless legislator of no repute with a painfully thin resume. His lack of executive experience was painfully exposed throughout his presidency – he either never learned or refused to do so.
This time around we have a flawed individual, but one who is anything but a sociopath and is an able executive who doesn’t need on-the-job training to know how to run things. We know almost everything about this man, warts and all, but we knew nothing (and still don’t) about Obama, who was coddled by a sycophantic press. I’ll take this present situation any day.
