Nights out with a French flavour

One of Bangkok’s hottest nightspots, Sukhumvit Soi 11, now has a new address. The newest kid on the block is Alex Brasserie, an innovative establishment that combines eating out with creativity and passion, offering Bangkok urbanites the quality and conviviality they desire at a fair price.

Spread over 570 square metres with an intriguing industrial loft style decor, Alex Brasserie brings together the best components of a restaurant, a bar and a lounge with a delightfully creative chef de cuisine, an experienced bartender and a talented retinue of professional musicians.
The unique design of the venue, inspired by an art-de-vivre which is truly French, features indoor and outdoor seating for about 170 with a bar in the centre. Grey concrete and metal are complemented with warm wood and burgundy coloured leather in a New York industrial loft style interior replete with French touches added here and there, making for a relaxed yet stylish venue for a satisfying meal or drinks with friends.
The kitchen is managed by French chef Arnaud Drouville, who serves up a menu of signature dishes including Carpaccio De Boeuf, a restyled Vietnamese salad with Thai spicy pork, stuffed spring-rolls, veal steak with ham, Swiss cheese, mushrooms and potatoes, all baked together, and beef short ribs cooked sous-vide and served with mustard, pickles and berries. Diners can expect to pay less than Bt1,000 per person and about Bt300 for a set lunch.
“Our concept proposes fine dining that is accessible to everyone. Nowadays, lots of quality products are attainable at a good price in Bangkok. We can make a living while providing good cuisine that isn’t overly expensive,” says Drouville, adding that he gives priority to locally sourced ingredients.
The bar offers five spectacular cocktails concocted by experienced bartenders along with a selection of sensibly priced spirits, Champagnes, imported and local beers and wines.
The lounge features a DJ booth and high quality sound system, offering the chill-out sounds of top local DJs every night from 9.30 to 1.30. Regular features include house & nu-disco on Friday and Saturday and hip-hop and R&B on Sundays.
Alex Brasserie’s is under the Mercure Bangkok Hotel in Sukhumvit Soi 11 and open daily from 6am to 2am. Book a table at (02) 057 3079 or visit Facebook.com/AlexBrasserie.
