In a democracy all have equal right to express their opinion

Re: “Trump’s giant achievements being pulled down by pygmies”, Have Your Say, yesterday.

Because Alf Haupt can’t give us one intelligent reason why Donald Trump should be “president” he resorts to personally attacking Trump critic Barry Kenyon. He asks Kenyon what he has accomplished in his life that gives him the right to criticise Trump. But what has Mr Haupt accomplished that justifies him showing such disgusting disrespect towards a black man, Barack Obama, who rose from a humble beginning – as opposed to Donald Trump who inherited an estimated US$100 million – to become president of the United States?
Of course people who cherish democracy know that every citizen, regardless of his personal accomplishments (and Barry, a published author, has accomplished plenty), has as much right to give his opinion as the white, rich, fascist, bigots that Mr Haupt evidently admires so much.
