Music that’s good enough to eat

Music that’s good enough to eat

Enjoy an evening of canapes and music served up by Thailand’s popular young orchestra, the Siam Sinfonietta, at the Dusit Hall of the Dusit Thani Hotel on June 17 from 7pm to 9pm.

The programme centres on the theme of “sehnsucht”, defined as a powerful, uncontrollable longing that is at the very heart of classical romanticism. Somtow Sucharitkul will conduct a diverse programme of works including the Overture to Mozart’s Idomene, the story of a man who sacrifices his own child to the God Poseidon in exchange for his salvation. Other compositions are: the Unfinished Symphony of Schubert, which is the very epitome of romantic longing; poignant excerpts from Stravinsky's Petrouchka; and the erotic and mysterious Miraculous Mandarin by Bela Bartok. A selection of surprising encores is also planned.
Event admission is by sliding scale donation and includes soft drinks and canapes by the Dusit Thani. Wine is also available for an extra donation. Adults pay Bt1,000 while school or university-age student tickets are Bt500. Seating is limited and advanced reservations are advised.
Tickets can be prereserved at https://goo.gl/SgKp8B or by calling (02) 231 5273 or (089) 136 9981.
