Suff writes dogs used by policemen “intimidate people”. Suppose Suff was at the airport when a dog sniffed out a bomb and saved Suff’s life? Would he still call the dog intimidating?
I also did not suggest that blind Thais often use stray dogs. I simply made the accurate point that many dogs throughout the world are used to help the police and the blind – which destroys the argument that dogs are “useless” and “brainless”.
Recently I was bitten by a stray dog. Does anyone think I enjoyed going to the hospital and now having to go back several times for shots? Yet the next day I was sitting in a coffee shop when the owner’s cute little dog came over to me wagging his tail and practically jumping on my lap, helping me to forget my problems.
To make a comparison, one time a crazy man who didn’t know me walked up to me in the street and smashed me across the arm with a lead pipe. Does that mean I should hate all men, including my friends?
I realise Suff and Thomas Turk are incapable of rational thinking and there is nothing I can write that will penetrate their thick skulls. But I’m always afraid that some misguided individuals might believe those two clowns and I hope to reach the public before it’s too late.
