On the right note
Saxophonist Francesco Cafiso and pianist Mauro Schiavone are all set the delight music fans tomorrow night (June 15) in a concert being staged at Bangkok University’s City Campus (Kluay Nam Thai) on Rama IV Road.
Part of the ongoing Italian Festival, the free recital kicks off at 7 and will run until 8.
From the first to the last note, the duo shows a very deep feeling between two souls that speak the same language. Cafiso with his alto saxophone will showcase his warm and lyrical sound, dislocating the melody of the pieces and building amazing solos while Schiavone’s piano adds a complex harmonic and rhythmic structure.
A jazz musician to his soul, Cafiso was awarded the “Grand Award of Merit” in 2014 by the American Society of the Italian Legions of Merit, in recognition of the contributions of Sicilian jazz musicians to the development of jazz. Schiavone too has won many awards, including the Prokofiev award and the Ibla Grand Prize 1992.
Registration is required and will be checked at the entrance. Kids of all ages are welcome, if they can enjoy the concert without making noise. For more information and reservations, email [email protected], go to Facebook page Italian Festival Thailand or call (02) 250 4970.
