First, the EU would have us believe it has prevented war in Europe for seven decades. This is nonsense. It hasn’t – Nato has.
Second, on the subject of “lies”, the most vicious lie of all was when the British people were told in the early 1970s that the EEC (as it was then known) would be a trading bloc, not a political union. They were told the sovereignty of parliament to make and approve laws would remain supreme. In the false euphoria that was whipped up by this mendacity, the voices of logic and truth, notably those of Enoch Powell MP, were ignored and derided.
If civil war breaks out in Western Europe, as seems likely, it will be the fault of the EU, following a half-century of wilful misgovernance and treason on a continental scale. Now that’s what I call “despicable”.
