When leaving is no longer an option

In reply to that very simplistic comment under the heading “Junta moves closer to regulating media”, Mr Kevin needs to understand that all things undergo change.

When you have been here a long time, you are not the same as the person who arrived, and neither is the country. And once you have invested all your income into a home, kids’ schooling, greater family assistance and car/bike ownership, leaving may no longer be an option.
I for one never expected Thailand to revert to the military regime of General Sarit in the 1950s and now find myself in a country I don’t recognise or particularly like in respect to media regulation and human rights.
