JC Wilcox, that master of flaccid apology and naked revisionism, offers us meaningless “lies, damned lies, and statistics” in yet another desperate attempt to justify Trump’s offensive administration. Were we to expand on this and list Trump’s pratfalls and character weaknesses, The Nation would need to devote an entire day’s published output to the task.
When the preponderance of knowledgeable US domestic and indeed world opinion sees that the emperor emphatically has no clothes, Wilcox lifts his spyglass to his blind eye, Nelson-style, and says “I see no problems”. The arrogance of this perceptual ineptitude is staggering in its scale and hubris. That said, I have no doubt whatsoever that this argument will continue, primarily due to the dogged grandiloquence of Wilcox, his flatulent aliases, and confederates.
Simon Ordsall, for all his faults but also to his credit, suffers no such myopic worldview. In terms of having a firm grasp of reality he’s not merely streets ahead of Wilcox, he’s an entire motorway in front of him. As, indeed, are the majority of The Nation’s opinion formers, Joe Bloggs, and the global cognoscenti.
