Thanksgiving is a time to reflect – on cruelty

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect – on cruelty

Thanksgiving Day falls tomorrow, November 23.

This week a massacre took place in the United States. It took the lives of approximately 45 million individuals. Each one died a gruesome, terrifying and painful death. Did horror and outrage ensue following this carnage and bloodshed? Not at all. On the contrary, this massacre was joyfully embraced by the majority of Americans because it was the turkey massacre that takes place every year in the US at Thanksgiving.
How long will it be before we humans open our eyes to the fact that all violence is wrong? Aren’t we being hypocrites if we denounce the massacre of humans yet support the massacre of non-humans who have just as much right to life as us?
With the wide variety of  wholesome, non-animal foods readily available today, there is absolutely no justification for condemning so many innocent creatures to such enormous suffering.
