Ratchanok Intanon upset world No 1 Tai Tzu Ying of Taiwan 21-18 21-17 in just 45 minutes to surge atop of the B group in the Dubai World Superseries Finals on Thursday.
The world No 6 showed better court coverage and smart shot selection to beat the defending champion for the 10th time in their 19 meetings.
Ratchanok has won two matches in a row including a two-game win over South Korean Sung Ji Hyun. She’s already secured a semi-final spot despite having one last meet with Chen Yufei of China in the last round robin on Friday.
