In his open letter to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, Minor International CCO Stephen Chojnacki attempted to mislead readers about PETA’s finances. PETA’s public financial reports detail the more than $42 million spent on its charitable animal protection programmes, in fiscal year 2016. In 2017, nearly 85 per cent of PETA’s expenditures, or more than $54 million, went directly to its charitable programmes.
Unlike hotels owner Minor International, PETA is a charity that exists to stop animal abuse wherever it occurs, including Minor’s beatings of elephants for human amusement. Minor should not compound that abuse with baseless attacks against PETA.
