Why hold a grudge against the Catholic Church?

Why hold a grudge against the Catholic Church?

Re: “News of latest sex scandal in Catholic Church being suppressed”, Have Your Say, Dec 14.

David Brown sounded very upset about The Nation not reporting news about a top-rank Catholic cardinal convicted of sexually abusing two choirboys.
The Nation probably figured the news was not worth the risk of the legal trouble that might follow from printing it. I think that was a good decision. Publications worldwide are reporting the news very cautiously (if at all) for fear of legal problems.
Anyway, the suppression order remains in place because the prosecutor split the charges against the Cardinal into two trials and the second trial is due to start in September. The court forbids reporting on the first trial because it might prejudice the jury in the second one. It has nothing to do with the man being a top-rank cardinal. It’s about the right to a fair trial, which Australia’s justice system takes very seriously.
Meanwhile, I can tell by the tone of David’s letter that he holds a grudge against the Vatican and is eager to deride the Church. That’s a shame.
