Teaching kids to “Love the Earth”

More than 700 young people were made aware of the environmental impact of plastic pollution and the benefits of waste separation at General Motors Thailand’s activity “Love The Earth School Visit” held recently at Wat Ampawa school, 24 kilometres from the company's energy saving and environment protection awardwinning manufacturing facility in Rayong.

“Love The Earth School Visit” aims to educate students and teachers about environmental issues, including plastic pollution and waste segregation.
“This project reflects GM Thailand’s continuous commitment to protecting the environment and serving and improving the communities in which we operate,” said Amnat Saengjan, vice president of manufacturing of General Motors (Thailand).
“The ‘Love The Earth School Visit’ is one of the many activities we have organised over the last year, including the ‘Mangrove Replanting’ and ‘Walk Run for Earth’ to celebrate World Environment Day on June 5’,” he added.
Additionally, GM Thailand employees also performed in a role play to educate students about waste separation in a fun and creative way, ending with games and giveaways.
GM Thailand’s Rayong facility was recognised for its outstanding efforts in environment conservation at the Prime Minister’s Industry Award of 2018. It was one of only four manufacturing facilities in Thailand to be honoured in its category and one of two automotive companies to receive this award in 2018.
