Why half the country remains suspicious of Thanathorn
The public has discovered that during the past decade, Future Forward Party leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit financed the Fah Dio Kan magazine – an anti-monarchist publication.
In 2016, Thanathorn repeatedly avoided answering questions on why he had jumped into politics with what seemed to be an anti-establishment mindset. He was also asked whether he had good or bad intentions towards the country’s revered institution.
So far, Thanathorn has kept quiet on this issue, despite the fact that in a democracy every politician is obligated to be open about his acts and intentions toward the country.
Thanathorn is still evasive when it comes to hard questions about his past actions and present motivations.
Thais now appear to be split evenly into one side that is totally devoted to Thanathorn and another side that doubts and distrusts him.
Thanathorn should come clean over the Fah Dio Kan question. He owes that much to the public.
