5,000 decodings of Covid-19 virus carried out across world

There has been 5,000 genotype decodings of Covid-19 strains around the world, especially in Europe and America, divided into, for example, A B C, Dr Yong Poovorawan, an expert virologist at Chulalongkorn University, said on his Facebook page today (April 14).

A study of Covid-19 in Thailand has found that the T species is most prevalent here, with T standing for Threonine, he added.
According to GISAID’s rational analysis after studying genetic diversity and polymorphism, Covid-19 began as an S (Serine) species and then was genetically altered to L (Leucine), which expanded faster and spread to Europe and America. Later, the L species was separated into two further ones – G (Glycine) and V (Valine).
The G species entered America in the east while the S species entered from the west. Europe was hit by the V and G species. As for Australia, they found the S species in the country originated from China and East Asia, and later V and G arrived via travel from Europe.
The most common species is S, which originated from China at first. Overall, the various species mixed together back and forth because of travel from one country to another.
“Thailand needs a computer mathematician to analyse the pattern of the outbreak using bioinformatics,” Yong said. “We still lack academics and scientists in this field to conduct a big data survey of genetics analysis.”
