A silky Pattaya picnic – then tee-time at Honda LPGA Thailand
International stars of women’s golf donned Thai silk outfits for a day out at the beach ahead of the Honda LPGA Thailand 2023, which tees off today.
Showing off the delicate threads on Pattaya beach were Thailand’s Jaravee "Wan" Boonchant, China’s Moonee He and Si Yu Ting, Charlie Hull from England, and Sweden’s Frida Kinhult.
The top golfers were pictured relaxing with a picnic and parasol just a few steps from the Mövenpick Hotel Siam Na Jomtien Pattaya.
World No 1 Lydia Ko is the favourite in a star-studded field at this week’s tournament in Pattaya. Joining Ko are eight other players in the world top 10, including local hope Atthaya Thitikul. Thailand’s world No 4 is also the reigning rookie of the year after grabbing two titles in 2022. She faces competition from Ariya Jutanugarn, the only home winner of the tournament, in 2021. Nanna Koerstz Madsen won last year's tournament in a playoff with Xiyu Lin at 26-under par.
The tournament teed off on Thursday morning, with Sweden’s Maja Stark taking an early lead at 6-under.
The Honda LPGA Thailand 2023 runs at Siam Country Club Pattaya Old Course until Sunday.
