Rising Star Teerawut Shines with Consecutive 69s at JAT Round 2

Teerawut Boonseeor carded back-to-back 69s to maintain his lead in the A and Open Boys' competition after round two of the 4th Junior Asian Tour circuit at Lake View Resort and Country Club in Petchaburi on Saturday.

After a sluggish start in the first nine holes (with three bogeys against one birdie), the teenager picked up his game, recording three birdies and one eagle on hole No. 12. His two-day total of 6 under-par 138 kept him atop the leaderboard, with Wittaya Ngamhom in second place with a total of 142, and Kaichen Xia at 143.

On the girls' side, former champion Alisa Inprasit, despite a disappointing 75, maintained her lead with a total of one over-par 145. She had four bogeys, and her only birdie came on hole No. 12. Following her by six shots was Puntita Pawichai, who shot a 74 for a total of 151.

In the girls’ B division (ages 13-14), Kanyarak Pongpithanon carded a 71 to share the lead with former champion Arisa Bintachit at even-par 144. Kanyapak had an uneven round with four birdies, one eagle, a double bogey, and three bogeys. 

She commented, "I hit my irons well, but my putting let me down a bit. I made some easy mistakes by missing some short putts. My score should have been better."

"Tomorrow, I'm going to focus on hitting fairways and greens and try to make some putts. Hopefully, I can reduce the errors. This year, I have been working on my putting, and the results are showing. I need to make putts to make birdies."

In the boys' event, Pasit Ratakua shot six birdies with five bogeys for a second-round 71 and a two-day total of two over-par 146. Sitting one stroke back at 147 was Tantikorn Klinpeng, who shot a 73. Indian Bhavesh Nirwan, with a 75, followed in third place with 149.

In the girls' C class (ages 10-12) final day, little Chanicha Gidjaruck sealed the victory with her total score of 161.

The tournament marks the fourth out of six circuits in this year's Junior Asian Tour series. It features six categories for boys and girls: C classes (ages 10-12), B classes (ages 13-14), and A classes (ages 15-18). Competitions are held in a three-day stroke-play format, spanning 52 holes for A and B classes and 36 holes for C classes. Each JAT circuit will bestow World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) and Junior Golf Scoreboard points to players.

The JAT presents players with the chance to participate in international standard tournaments and accumulate points for potential selection in various international junior and professional events, including the LPGA Tour, Ladies European Tour, Asian Tour TrustGolf Tour, and other prominent events in Thailand.
