The Region IV court said the lese majeste law, which Pai was charged with breaking, was a security case with a severe penalty and might lead him to abscond.
The activist’s lawyer unsuccessfully appealed with the court on Monday to reverse the decision by Khon Kaen Provincial Court last week and discontinue the pre-trial detention.
The activist had been detained since late December last year for sharing a lese majeste article by BCC Thai. The action was allegedly in violation of the Article 112 of the Criminal Code and the computer crime law.
