Authorities to raise aviation safety concerns caused by Central Village project near Suvarnabhumi

The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) will soon look into aviation safety concerns caused by the Central Village project.

These concerns will soon by raised by the Airports of Thailand (AOT), which is directly in conflict with the outlet.
The concerns are:

1. Possible interference in electronic signals caused by the outlet’s location;

2. Possible visibility problems that may affect pilots and aviation safety;

3. Activities that may create smoke affecting visibility for planes landing at Suvarnabhumi International Airport;

4. Activities that may attract birds, which pose potential threats to planes taking off or landing;

5. Possible effect on the airport’s laser emission-free zone; and

6. Possible intrusion, which may affect traffic near the airport.

Highways Department director-general Anon Luangboriboon said there were around 50 complaints in relation to Central Village’s use of common roads, adding that the Highways Department was not aware of any laws referring to who exactly owns the road or the land in question.

Meanwhile, CAAT director Chula Sukmanop said he has yet to receive a formal request from AOT, though he was aware of its concerns.
