Rules limiting checkpoints cause ‘Eat, Shop, Spend’ registration problem: KTB

Rules limiting checkpoints cause ‘Eat, Shop, Spend’ registration problem: KTB

Krungthai Bank (KTB) has confirmed that neither of the Pao Tang and Tung Ngern processing systems under the “Eat, Shop, Spend” scheme were in fact down on September 29, as has been reported. Instead, the problem was caused by the inability of the department stores to access the system under official rules.

Netizens shared photos on social media about registrants who abandoned their shopping cart at the Tesco Lotus Lak Si branch because the ‘Eat, Shop, Spend’ application system was allegedly down on Sunday (September 29).
KTB said that under the registration rules for Tung Ngern shops, only 20 cash registers can be in operation simultaneously for registrants across all the branches in one province.
“For Tesco Lotus, more than 20 branches used this point, and so they had only one checkpoint in each branch, which is not a lot for registrants. They have to manage their cashier point by decreasing the number of branches and increasing the cashier points in each branch, the same as The Mall or Big C,” KTB said.
“The government’s scheme intends to promote in-country tourism and boost the local economy for community and citizens to benefit many provinces. We want qualified registrants in this scheme to travel and spend in each province.”
