Thais give alms to monks on Father’s Day
In remembrance of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great (King Rama IX), Thais all over the country give alms to monks in merit-making ceremonies to celebrate late King’s birthday on December 5, which is also National Father’s Day.
In Uthai Thani, governor Narong Rakroi led senior officials, civil servants, military and police officers and local citizens in giving alms to 89 monks from Nong Khun Chat temple at the Witthayu Intersection in Muang district.
In Chumphon, governor Wibul Rattanapornwong presided over the alms giving and merit- making ceremony to hundreds of monks and novices at Chumphon Municipal Office. In ceremony was joined by government officials and the public wearing yellow shirts to show their gratitude to King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
At King Rama V monument in Trang province, governor Leuchai Jaroensab gave alms to 98 monks and 89 novices together with senior state officials in their formal white uniforms and hundreds of Trang residents who mostly wore yellow.
At Srimeung Public Park in Rayong province, governor Surasak Jaroensirichote presided over the alms giving ceremony to 89 monks and presented flowers in front of photos of King Bhumibol Adulyadej to show gratitude for his kindness and royal initiative projects that have benefited Thais for several decades.
At Thao Suranari Monument in Nakhon Ratchasima, governor Wichian Janthanothai together with his deputy, government and state enterprise officials, police and military officers and the general public presented alms to 89 monks in remembrance of King Rama IX and in celebration of National Father’s Day.
