With the Covid-19 scare halving passenger numbers, State Railway of Thailand (SRT) is suspending train services on 22 routes from Wednesday (April 1) “until the situation improves”.

SRT acting governor Warawut Mala said on Friday passenger volume dropped by 50 per cent from February to March, with thousands of ticket reservations cancelled after the government postponed Songkran festivities.
Demand for refunds had “affected SRT’s revenue considerably”, he said.
